Promotional gifts have gradually become a hot concept that people pay attention to. Giving gifts with company brand logos or promotional words is an effective way for companies to enhance brand awareness. Since promotional gifts are often presented with products and must have distinctive features of the product or company, they are usually produced by OEM. Suppliers make products on demand after clarifying the needs of buyers.
Promotional items usually give the public the feeling of low prices, but there are also many companies that are willing to use high-end materials and new technologies to improve product quality and attract customers. The price of raw materials has a dramatic impact on the promotional gift industry as a whole. The prices of petroleum, textile materials, metals and plastics all affect the cost of promotional gifts. Wearable promotional gifts account for the largest proportion of all promotional items, so the price fluctuations of textile materials are more concerned by the industry. Cotton prices have continued to rise since the end of 2008. At the end of 2009, the spot price of cotton in China reached RMB 14,913 per ton, and it closed at RMB 16,048 in March 2010. At the end of 2009, the prices of viscose staple fiber and polyester staple fiber were RMB 18,850 and RMB 9,600 per ton, respectively, up 62.5% and 33.33% from the beginning of the year.
